Grief and bereavement

The death of someone close to you is a normal yet incredibly painful experience. Dr. Gupta works with people who have experienced the loss of a parent, partner, friend, child, or other relative.

Dr. Gupta's past research, working alongside Dr. George Bonanno at Columbia University, has shown that most people are resilient. This means they have an innate ability to cope and eventually resume working and enjoying time with friends/family.

For people who are seeking help soon after a loss, Dr. Gupta focuses on offering consistent support and research-based education on what to expect. When sadness and hopelessness feel particularly intense, therapy can also offer concrete skills to cope.
