Sumati Gupta, PhD is a clinical psychologist and Term Assistant Professor at Barnard College of Columbia University. She specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for the treatment of anxiety issues, loss/trauma,and eating/weight problems.
Dr. Gupta's research has focused on the ways in which people regulate their emotions after experiencing traumatic events or while experiencing eating disorder symptoms. She has co-led empirical studies and published several peer-reviewed papers on these topics.
Dr. Gupta completed her BA at Duke University, PhD at Columbia University, and clinical internship at NY Presbyterian / Weill Cornell Medical College where she received advanced training in the Cognitive Therapy Clinic and Eating Disorders Center.
